300 million members and counting: How LinkedIn became a $28bn company - ArabianBusiness.com

Countless recruitment surveys in the past year have produced a clear message: employment is on the rise in the UAE. The improving economy means more opportunities, not only for employees, but also for those providing the platform, and maybe that has something to do with LinkedIn’s plans to expand its operations in the country.
The professional networking portal has enjoyed a bumper year so far, thanks to  increased usage, and the success of new products, like its new client-management services for salespeople.
Social media has been one of the world’s big game-changers in the last decade. It’s practically impossible to avoid some form or other, and at least half of the world’s professionals have found it necessary to sign up to the business-centric social network of LinkedIn.
Of the 660 million professionals in the world today, about 330 million are on LinkedIn, and in the Middle East and North Africa region, there are 13 million members, with more than a million in countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
