‘Stealing’ pharmacy worker says boss is trying to set her up

A pharmacy worker accused of stealing drugs and other products from the shop she worked at has claimed she was stitched up by her boss.
The Palestinian woman is on trial for allegedly taking products from the Abu Dhabi chemist. But she told Abu Dhabi Criminal Court that her boss only went to the authorities with the claim after she filed a complaint to the Labour Office, saying she and her colleagues had not received their salaries for months.
She told a judge the stealing claims were “malicious”.
The woman testified: “I am innocent. I have never stolen anything from the pharmacy.
“My employer made malicious accusations against me because I had reported her company to the labour authorities for not paying our salaries in time.”
She also denied signing a document that apparently stated she confessed to stealing, during an investigation carried out by the pharmacy management.
However, prosecutors say a colleague of the woman’s said they saw her taking products from a shelf then leaving work with the items. The amount of drugs and goods that were allegedly stolen was not mentioned in court.
The woman said she had worked for the pharmacy for one year and three months.
The trial was adjourned until September, when the trial will hear from witnesses
